6.Healing Yourself with EFT

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) are a set of unconventional techniques from the group of "energy meridian therapies" that address both professionals and non-professionals, a method of healing and self-healing both emotional and physical problems.

EFT is a procedure that is also called emotional acupuncture because it combines the stimulation of energy centers at the ends of the meridians - through light tapping (press-puncture) - with elements of stimulating the cerebral hemispheres, while directing attention to what the pain means, unhappy memories, emotions that cause discomfort, different addictions, cravings, etc.

The method is very simple and once learned it can be applied in any situation because:

  • it does not involve surgical procedures

  • no needles are used

  • no drugs or chemicals are used

  • it does not push and pull the body, being absolutely non-invasive

EFT is easy to learn, can be done anywhere, and often the results are immediate. It is applied and works for people of all ages, including infants and even for pets.

EFT was developed and used initially for the treatment of phobias and post-traumatic stress disorders but later, it has been found to be equally effective in treating a wide range of problems.

Gary Craig simplified the complex algorithms of TFT (Thought Field Therapy) - the method that underlies EFT - and developed a unique, general-purpose algorithm that can be used in all cases of breaking the energy system.

Once memorised, the Basic Recipe becomes a lifelong friend! It can be applied to an almost endless list of physical and emotional problems and offers solutions to most of them.

How to practice EFT exercises?

The method involves tapping on specific points on the body with your fingers, while focusing on a specific issue or problem.

The tapping points are located on the face and upper body, including the top of the head, the eyebrow, the side of the eye, under the eye, under the nose, on the chin, the collarbone, and under the arm. Tapping on these specific points is thought to balance the body's energy and alleviate negative emotions.

The EFT process starts with a set-up phrase, where you focus on the issue you want to address and repeat a reminder phrase while tapping the karate chop point. And then the practitioner will proceed with tapping the remaining points while focusing on the issue and repeating the reminder phrase.

The method is considered as a form of energy psychology, and it is simple and easy to learn, it can be done anywhere, and it is non-invasive.

  1. The "Surrender" Exercise

To "surrender" means to give up resistance to Life, to give up an identity and control, which are anyway illusory. This may seem scary, because it means that you are agreeing to dissolve. But exactly when you do this, you are really opening up to Life.

  1. Beginning of the eyebrow: I surrender!

  2. Tail of the eye: I give up the need for control

  3. Under the eye: I also give up the need to surrender control

  4. Under the nose: I give up the lack of power in surrendering control

  5. Chin: I give up the way I think my life should be

  6. Collarbone: I give up my desire for things to be different

  7. Under the arm: I give up my surrender

  8. Under the chest: I give up my need to be good

  9. Wrist: I give up my need to be accepted

  10. Top of the head: I surrender!

  1. Beginning of the eyebrow: Thank you, Universe!

  2. Tail of the eye: I give up the need to know

  3. Under the eye: I give up the need to be known

  4. Under the nose: I give up the need for others to accept me

  5. Chin: I give up my imperfections

  6. Collarbone: I give up the need to be perfect

  7. Under the arm: I give up my dependencies

  8. Under the chest: I give up my purpose in life

  9. Wrist: I give up my relationships

  10. Top of the head: I give up the need to be loved

  11. Beginning of the eyebrow: I give up goals and desires

  12. Tail of the eye: I give up my heart

  13. Under the eye: My mind

  14. Under the nose: My body

  15. Chin: My spirit

  16. Collarbone: I give up my ego

  17. Under the arm: I give up any need to surrender

  18. Under the chest: I give up the inability to surrender

  19. Wrist: I give up everything

  20. Top of the head: I surrender!

  1. Beginning of the eyebrow: Universe, I Surrender! I Surrender to my Highest Good!

  2. Tail of the eye: You brought me here, You brought me to this situation,

  3. Under the eye: I release and let go of any resistance

  4. Under the nose: I release and let go of any need to control the outcome

  5. Chin: I trust in the unfolding of my highest good

  6. Collarbone: I let go of my attachments

  7. Under the arm: I am open and receptive to receiving my highest good

  8. Under the chest: I let go of my fears and doubts

  9. Wrist: I am grateful for the blessings in my life

  10. Top of the head: I Surrender!"

The universe has no limits, only our mind is limited. When we are truly ready and daring to have complete trust, we say a simple prayer:

"Universe, I surrender! I surrender to my highest good! You brought me here, you brought me in this situation, you brought me in relationship with these people, you want this dream to come true for me. I surrender completely, so that these things manifest! Please bring the highest good for each person involved and help me to enter into the flow of Grace, so that I can feel how Life flows and for me, according to the Plan. Help me to step out of my way and to see the Beauty of Life flowing".

2. The "Self-Forgiveness" Exercise

It is very important to leave the past behind, overcome blockages and integrate experiences, and for this we must be able to overcome resentments - most often repressed and operated at a subconscious level so that we do not know they are there, until we go through such a process.

The basic concept of the Radical Forgiveness method is that ALL FORGIVENESS IS SELF-FORGIVENESS.

This means in equal measure that:

1) The forgiveness that seems to be given to others is first and foremost a gift we give ourselves.

2) Every forgiveness process for others is equally a forgiveness process for ourselves.

Connect to the negative emotion related to the feeling of Guilt and/or Shame regarding things you have done and would have liked to have done differently or things you haven't done and would have liked to have done. Notice on a scale of 1 to 10 what is the intensity of this emotion and work the following exercise until you feel that this intensity decreases. Repeat a minimum of 21 days or until you consider that you are in a state of complete Forgiveness.

Setting statement:

Karate point (PK): 1). Although I feel this negative emotion and at a certain level I refuse to forgive myself, I accept myself exactly as I am and I want to love myself fully.

Karate point (PK): 2). Although a part of me wants to forgive but there is another that holds me back, I decide to accept all parts of myself.

Karate point (PK): 3). Although this non-forgiveness program has served me in a certain way, that's why I won't let it go - so nobody can force me to do it - I accept myself as I am and want to learn complete Forgiveness.

3. The "Self-Love and Acceptance" Exercise

Self-love and appreciation are not easy subjects for those who were shown and told in childhood that they are not perfect. All the "truths" told by parents, teachers, caregivers, peers, and society in general, all the comments - although often sincere - about a "reality" that needs to be improved in order to be accepted, have only led to the conclusion that human beings are far from deserving love - simply because they are not perfect.

It's time to change this paradigm - not only because we see how limiting it is, but also because we can!

We take a deep breath, relax and do the following exercise - in the morning, evening or any preferred moment during the day, for a minimum of 30 days.

Setting statement:

Karate Point (PK): 1) Even though I don't know how to truly love myself and a part of me doesn't believe it's possible, I forgive and accept myself anyway.

Karate Point (PK): 2) Even though self-love and acceptance are not my strong points, and a part of me wants to keep things the way they are - because they help me stay safe, they help me not to get hurt when others don't love and accept me - I still choose to learn to get used to it.

Karate Point (PK): 3) Even though I haven't deeply and fully loved and accepted myself truly until now, because I didn't know how to and a part of me still doesn't want to learn, I choose to accept all parts of myself and forgive myself, anyway.
